Work and Play

Friday morning started off in the hot sun.  Our bishop cuts lawns for people who don't have their own mowers for a small fee.  He and his wife work together and they will use the money to go on a senior mission.  Our lawn gets cut and they get a small step closer to going on an adventure together.  While they worked on our lawn Jane and I weeded the flower beds.  After the bishop left I spread some poison to hopefully get rid of our fire ant problem.

At 11:30 it was time for the Mabank Area Moms' Association Play Time!  Pamela and Jane went off to run some important errands and I took the boys.  Once again the ladies asked lots of questions about Pamela.  Xander and Curtis had a great time.  Snack time was first and the boys were thrilled with blueberry muffins.

The play group was not overly structured which was okay, there were about 15 very hyper little kids.  We had a singing time, an activity, and lots of free time where the kids were just able to play.  For singing time I did one song with each boy and one song kind of on my own.  There was a hello song where they sing the names of the children.  Xander and Curtis both kind of wandered off for that one.  I did the frog song with Xander and the Hokie Pokie with Curtis.  The activity was yoga.  Curtis kind of ignored that one while Xander decided he would climb up on me while I was doing the moves rather than try them himself.

The children get excited about a brand new toy.

Curtis plays music.

Xander works on building a tower that can stand on its own.

Curtis enjoyed this book with lights.  I read it to him after taking these photos.

Tower that can stand on its own, check, now to make it taller.

Another child asked if he could kick down the tower.  Xander did not respond so down the tower went.  Xander kept a good attitude about it and tried playing with it another way.

The children build a train track and try to share the train engine

Boys in motion.

Hungry Hungry Hippos fascinated Curtis.

When I got home from the play group the water company had arrived and they were hard at work.  We have been having some issues with a pump and it has caused our side yard to be flooded.  They had to replace a broken down pump.  Now our yard should dry out and hopefully smell a whole lot better.

Xander and Curtis both got really hungry.  I heated up some left overs for them and they really enjoyed it.  Curtis also ate a fruit bowl of bananas and strawberries.

The adults worked together to hang some pictures, decorate, and clean up the house.  The boys mainly played.  Xander and I were playing with Spiderman Tsum Tsum when it occurred to me that he had a green stripped shirt, kind of like Sandman, a Spiderman villain.  So of course I had to try to take a picture of him going after Spiderman.

The boys actually went to bed at a decent hour and I fell asleep in the rocking chair.  Unfortunately Curtis and Xander both woke up around 1:00 or so on Saturday and have only just gone back to sleep.  It has been a long morning with a Mickey Mouse Marathon.

And today's favorite photographs are...
