Xander is such a character. He has started telling us where he wants us to go in the car. He has even learned his right and left. On this particular afternoon after church he decided that we really needed some playtime in the park - March 26th.
Xander isn't the only character around the Maynard house. The barn swallows have migrated back to Texas and have once again taken up residence on our front door. They are insect eaters which we really need and they typically leave us alone as we walk in and out of the house. One morning I was out working and I kept hearing angry bird noises from our tree. It sounded like a hawk was fighting something else. I went over to investigate and I saw these two little parents chasing off and beating up a massive hawk. Bare in mind that both of them can fit in my hand at the same time and that hawk was big enough to carry away a small dog.
Little Loca still likes to see if she can fit in a whole bunch of random containers, here she is "helping" us put away the boys toys. Sometimes, because of her size and her various hiding places, she has actually been mistaken by several people as a stuffed animal.
Max is always up for being pampered. Pamela laughs at his facial expressions and believes he always looks high, I think he is just a very chill cat.
Good morning Curtis, let's try on Grandma's shoes and Mommy's sweater! No one actually said that but that is just what he did. After all that work being cute he then went and did the next local thing, he got the dog bed out to take a nap on. On this day in April 8th we were supposed to go on an Easter Egg Hunt, with all these crazy antics I began to doubt that we would make it. We did and it was fun.
These photos from February 25th show the first time we introduced our foster puppy Penny to Sophie. Sophie looks more than a little concerned.... What is this thing? Is it mine? I feel like I'm gonna break it!
Well Sophie soon found out that Penny was much tougher than she seemed to be and the two became virtually inseparable partners in crime, and yes I mean actual crime, like the vandalism of our trampoline, house, and yard.
One of the only things that ever had this puppy truly frightened was that big step off of the porch. Did not last long though, she soon realized that it wasn't THAT far down.
Yummy, it's a stick that's bigger than me! Penny was such a fun little dog to have around the house but we always knew it would be temporary. She desperately wanted to be Curtis' best friend but Curtis did not like the little dog jumping on him or licking him. Here she is trying to play with him as he makes his escape. Luckily Miss Penny has now found herself a loving home where she gets all the attention she needs and Curtis no longer needs to worry about something small jumping up to give him kisses.
I am, of course, one of the characters too. Pamela and Jane picked out this new shirt for me so I just had to put it on for May the 4th and attempt to get good Star Wars pictures with my boys. I am super excited for The Last Jedi later this year!
Here's some random pictures of us.
My paper, back off broom, it's mine, all mine!
We love Play-Doh!
Oh boy, a new pool! Let's try it out!
So, with all the craziness that our family goes through each day it should not come to a surprise to anyone that ALL the family members tend to be a little out of it by the time the day is over.
