Late May 2017
These ducks are from Northern Mexico, their breed supposedly does not live this far north. I beg to differ.
Love the view by this tree.
With the return of the barn swallows came a new interest and determination among the cats. I am not sure who devoted more time to bird watching in late spring of 2017, me or the cats.
Ending Preschool in 2017
For Xander it was the end of his third year of preschool. In three years he has been to three different preschools. He started out as a Pinon Eagle, became a Chimney Rock Owlet, and ended his career as a Mabank Panther. It was Curtis' first year of preschool, he only just started shortly after his birthday. Still though, he was three years old and had lived in three states. Its time for the Maynard family to be settled down for awhile.
It was very nice to get off work to see the boys receive awards from their teachers and have a celebration with the boys. This was their last day of school before summer break this year. When the boys returned to school Xander was officially a kindergartner and Curtis returned to his same preschool class.

Balloons! Lion Guard its so Beautiful! May 12, 2017
We decided to check out a balloon festival in Canton this year. It was smaller, due to the tornado damage to the community. Curtis was not a huge fan, but he watched from a distance. Xander and I went up close to check them out.
Watching the amazement in his face and hearing him talk about how beautiful the balloons were was a wonderful experience. His imagination was so alive in that moment that he started talking to the Lion Guard.
