Windy Morning Wednesday

Luckily Wednesday morning was cool and windy, despite getting into the the high 80s and low 90s it felt more like the mid 70s.  The boys and I took advantage of the opportunity by heading out to a park.  I decided to give the Gun Barrel City Municipal Park a try.  When I arrived I could not see the playground anywhere.  I loaded the boys up in the stroller and started to hike around the park.  Just as I was wondering if there was a playground at all I saw it in the distance.  Cruel irony, it was close to where we started walking from.  Another cruel irony, I could have parked there if I had driven the car a little farther.

I told the boys that we did not have much time to play and Curtis decided to seize the day and climb up on everything while Xander decided the best thing to do was lay down and finish his milk.  If you look in the photo below you can see Curtis through the peep hole in the tunnel where Xander is laying down.

Xander and Curtis both tried out new things.  Curtis tried rock climbing but was not quite able to pull it off.  Xander tried out a spinning toy.

Xander goes up the slide.

Curtis really terrified me when he started coming down by ladder as opposed to stairway.  I told him he was too little and not to try it but he was determined.  I fought my urge to just pull him off it.  I let him attempt it with a hand on him, I helped as little as possible.  He went down on his own.

Anywhere Xander goes Mickey Mouse Tsum Tsum must follow.  He played with the mouse like a pin ball and put him in a slot for safe keeping on the big climbing wall.

The Southwest Dairy Farmers put on a presentation at the Library at Cedar Creek in Seven Points, Texas.  Xander wanted to touch the cow but the children weren't allowed to get very close to it.  I had to call him back to the seat several times.  At this point the day was starting to get really hot.  I was grateful for the pavilion and breeze.  Xander really started to pay attention during the milking demonstration.  Carefree Curtis just kind of wandered around and kept Daddy busy.

During the presentation Xander said, "Swing," to me.  I told him to wait till it was over.  As soon as the presentation was over Xander took me over to the swings.  These photos show the first time that Curtis has successfully been on a big kid swing on his own.  It's like Curtis was really determined to show off what a big kid he is.

The boys played, I read a couple of stories, and the library staff gave us reading logs and information about the summer reading program.

Xander loves Baby Cat but does not understand how to hold it.  He once again got into trouble for holding the kitten by the tail and swinging it.  Hopefully we will be able to help him understand the right way to take care of the kitten.

After coming home I helped out with some household projects.  I sorted the recycling which has gotten a little out of hand, I really wish that they would pick it up more often.  Other family projects included putting up the baby gate and finishing the painting in the boy's room.

And the favorite pictures of the day are.... drum roll please...
