Frantic Salamander Friday

We started our day at the Mabank Cafe.  Xander ate very little but Curtis really chowed down on pancakes and eggs.

Afterward we took a family trip to do some errands near Dallas.  The boys were getting pretty restless so I took them to a playground but it was too small, I was the only adult, and the other children kept dropping a bomb that I did not want my boys repeating.  We ended up coming home.  I stayed with the boys while Pamela and Jane went back out to finish up.

Apprehending this little fellow was tricky!  Salamanders are quick, agile, flexible, and do not like being caught!  This particular one also bends in with our carpet making it very difficult to see and track.

I found it while I was working on laundry to help out around the house while the ladies were out and about.  Ended up catching it by using two serving spoons.  By the time I got the little fellow outside I had lost track of it completely once, and I had caught it and lost it at least a half dozen times.

I got out several toys for the boys and played Finding Nemo for them.  The boys love that movie and they are getting very excited for the new one.  Xander surprised me after Finding Nemo by saying, "Space!"  He was pointing on the DVR to Star Trek.  I guess my sons are Trekkies.

Xander adores the latest rescue in the Maynard home.  A kitten I am currently calling "Squeakers."  I was very surprised when Xander ordered the kitten off of the couch and then took it by the tail and tossed it.  Xander got a firm talking to and started crying.  "Well, how do you think the baby cat feels?"

Maybe the reason why Xander loves the new kitten so much is that it is basically the same size as his Tsum Tsum toys.

Curtis with what was left of his dinner and then later on with a snack.

Jane and Pamela came home and helped put the boys to bed.
