On Friday my break was kicked off by an ugly sweater contest
amongst the teachers. I was the only
male participant. I wore a sweater that
Pamela bought me, it states, “I’m here for the eggnog.” Unfortunately no one had egg nog that day,
and I asked for it repeatedly. I did
however learn about George Washington’s recipe, sooooo much alcohol! Anyway I lost the competition, I knew I
would. The winner actually attached a
homemade snow globe to her stomach. The
runner up had two mannequins tied to her dressed in sweaters.
After work I checked out Oil Town Comics. I pass it on my way to work every day so I
decided to actually go inside and see what it was like. It was a nice little store, not as big as the
comic book store I used to frequent back in Logan, Utah, but it was really
nice. I liked that it had something for
everyone, adults, teens, and young children could all find something there.
From there I drove home.
I just barely missed my family, they were going to the store. I took advantage of being home alone by
taking the dog on a walk. It was a short
walk, only about 1.2 miles, but Sophie liked it and I enjoyed being out and
about. I used to go for two walks a day. A habit I need to get back to.
Once Pamela and Jane returned with the boys we had a nice evening together. I slipped out to snap these photos of the setting sun from our backyard.
That night we drove the boys around Gun Barrel and Mabank to
look at Christmas light displays, both boys fell asleep in the car.
Saturday was a big reveal day. Pamela and I exchanged our Christmas
gifts. Partly because Pamela wanted me
to enjoy my gift on our Ohio trip and partly because I did not think my gift
would survive the trip to Ohio, ironically enough my gift is all about travel. Pamela gave me some very nice memory foam
slippers to replace the beat up and worn out pair that Sophie ate. Dolly had started the eating process and
Sophie just finished it, in the dog’s defense.
My gift was a travel map of the United States.
Sunday I went to church a little late but was in time to…
not teach a lesson. I kind of thought I
would not have a class but I needed to be there just in case. I attended my Priesthood lesson which my
father had already told me about a week before.
Still though, it was a good lesson.
Monday was spent in preparation for our big trip to Ohio for
Christmas. I was really that a lot of
the packing and loading of the car was happening the night before. It would be a big help in getting us out of
the house at a decent time, especially due to the fact that I would be sick on Tuesday. Ew.
