Pamela put on a program for Cinco de Mayo for her school. The students sang wonderfully but she was unhappy with her sound guy, me. At first the volume was too high, I turned it down when I got a signal from her, then it was too soft. When she gave me the signal to put the volume up I thought I had misunderstood her first signal and put the volume louder than ever. She glared at me and I wondered what I had done. Thankfully most of the parents still enjoyed the presentation. Pamela's art students had provided the decorations around the gym.
I did a short lesson on Cinco de Mayo in my Spanish classes and we played the game "Stealing the Sombrero."
The next day our family attended the Cinco de Mayo party that our church held. Curtis was into everything and I ended up following him almost everywhere. During the dancing I started off holding him but eventually I set him on my shoulders. Dancing and keeping a baby balanced on my shoulders led many people to call me "talented," Pamela just thought it was hilarious and took a video to send to my mother.
During the party Curtis sang along to one of the songs, "B-I-N-G-O," and he was having so much fun on my shoulders during a dance that he said, "Awesome." He is becoming a little chatterbox speaking mostly nonsense that Jane thinks sounds like Pickacho from Pokemon. I kind of thought it sounded more like an Ewok from Star Wars. Pamela decided that it was a cross of the two. "So which one of us is an Ewok and which one is Pickacho." Jane declared that Pamela was the Pickacho. Apparently I am an Ewok.
Xander is also talking a lot more. He mostly asks for cheese puffs and chocolate milk but he also is saying more and more things. One of his catch phrases right now is, "So adorable," with a pat to the head. The cat, Jane, and Pamela have all been patted and been told that they are, "So adorable." We think he got this behavior from the Penguins of Madagascar Movie.
Xander is doing really well in his new school. He really likes his new teacher and his class. Being in a smaller classroom has really allowed him to open up a lot more. While he has been repeating things for awhile he is doing this even more now. When we visited Sea Life in Dallas Pamela was able to get him to say, "Red Bellied Piranha."
The boys love fish. We try to visit a big aquarium at least once a year for them to look at sharks and other favorites. They had such a great time on Saturday. After visiting the fish Curtis decided it was playtime and then we went shopping.
Xander made his choice in the epic battle, he is Team Iron Man. He saw the large Tsum Tsum and hugged it. I took a moment to teach him the names of several of the Marvel Tsum Tsum. Jane and I were able to see the movie the night before, it was really good! I still have not seen BvS though, I think that might have to wait till it comes out for rent.
Saturday night was really long since Curtis decided he wanted to be wide awake from about 2 - 9. I was up with him most of that time. We bought Mother's Day gifts, watched a movie, and went out for a walk with the dog before I passed out. Pamela and Jane really appreciated the cards that he picked out for them.
