Days in July

On Tuesday the 5th I was left to my own devices.  Pamela and Jane took the boys on a grocery shopping trip and I worked around the house.  The Gecko that Pamela now calls Fred came back a third time, the first time that he hasn’t visited on a Friday.  This time I took him across the street before I dropped him off.

Wednesday the 6th Xander decided to build a castle.  I was very excited, I did not even know that he knew that word.  It reminded me of the castle in the movie version of Masters of the Universe.  After building the castle we spent some time on the trampoline.

The 7th was a big day.  The Creature Teacher came to the Tri County Library and brought all kinds of critters from Austraila.  Curtis was a brave little guy and he pet the bearded dragon and a kangaroo, Xander did not want to pet the kangaroo.  The kangaroo was really interested in us, if it had come any closer to me it would have jumped in my lap!

Curtis was pretty tired from his adventures so he fell asleep early that day.  Xander and I took the opportunity to go on a long drive and stop by at some parks to play.  It was late enough that it wasn’t burning hot and early enough that the bugs weren’t out yet.  He and I picked up dinner for the family.

On the 8th we went to the library again for Play!  The craft was the snack which Xander really got into.  Curtis mostly just wanted the frosting more than the cookie, but that’s okay.

On the morning of the 9th I wanted to get out of the house for awhile so I took a hike around the neighborhood.  It felt really good!  Later that morning I took Curtis out with me and we went to Lowes for the Build and Grow.  I worked really hard on trying to get Curtis to build the project with me, it was mostly just me making it.  Curtis kept running off and trying to climb on a fork lift, crazy boy.

Sunday the 10th we loaded up the family into the van and headed to church.  I was approached as soon as we arrived about a second calling.  Interviewed, called, sustained, and set apart in one day.  Now I am an Assistant Ward Clerk in addition to being the Youth Sunday School Teacher.  Once the interview was over the meeting was starting, I felt bad that I did not have time to get out the translation equipment.

Once again the Sunday school lesson was filled with students from Magnolia, Texas.  Thankfully we had more students from Athens this time.  I’m really looking forward to getting to know these children better.

On the 11th we decided not to travel to Plano since Pamela would have to make the long trip again the next day.  Instead we went to McDonalds for lunch and to let the boys run wild.  I had a salad but mostly I was up on my feet looking out for the boys.  We also found a great leasing deal on a lawn mower.  Basically we would pay in a month that we would normally pay for a week to have someone else do it.

That evening the boys were able to bounce on the trampoline while I sprayed them to waters and sang fun songs like ABCs and Twinkle Twinkle.  When the boys finally settled in to sleep I left the house and got the adults ice cream and rented a new set of movies.

The 12th was Pamela’s big day.  She has spent a lot of time getting ready for this test to make her teacher certification more permanent.  We wished her luck and off she went.  While she was gone I finally unloaded the PT which had stuff from our Memphis storage container.  I went through a few of the things to set aside for this next school year and I also put out some owls for Pamela.

The 13th we had a really fun morning.  We started out by getting the boys on the trampoline.  They laughed, played, bounced, and sang.  Comet decided to make a break for it since the fence was broken due to a storm.  Luckily we caught up to him and brought him back home.

After getting ready we left the house for the Library at Cedar Creek where we watched a presentation by the Seven Points Volunteer Fire Department and got to climb up some of their trucks.  Xander and Curtis had a blast.  After seeing the fire trucks they were able to play at the swing set there at the library.
