Mom's Visit Part III

Sunday morning had a slow start to it.  The boys had been up late, the adults dragged out of bed slowly and each got something to eat.  Curtis woke up after a bit and Xander woke up as we were getting ready to leave.  Church was once again an interesting affair.  I left Sunday school early to assist in a blessing.  When I got back I found out that various people were looking for me.  Leave the building for a while and suddenly you’re a celebrity.

I had the chance to stand outside the primary for a bit and listen to their progress on two of the songs.  Pamela continues to do a good job in her new calling as a Primary Chorister.

Pamela and my Mom both needed to rest when we got home from church so I stayed up with the boys while the ladies napped.  Mostly the boys stayed in their room and played with the buckets of toys.  I felt like it would be okay for me to step out.  My Mom claimed I was letting them run amok.  Apparently after I left the room Xander went into her room and started bouncing and such.  I did catch him wearing Mom’s glasses at one point but that had been easily corrected.

Monday we went off to Plano earlier than normal since Pamela’s bridesmaid dress had come in.  She picked up the dress and then went shoe shopping.  Having completed several errands quickly we found ourselves in Plano with a ton of time on our hands.  So we decided to take the boys to one of their favorite places, Kid Mania.  It was lunch time by then so we also took advantage of the Kid Mania menu.  Kid Mania actually has some really good food!

After Kid Mania we went to the pool for swimming lessons.  Curtis did really well but for some reason Xander really struggled.  Xander did well on a few things though so we worked mainly with those skills to make them even better.

Pamela decided to surprise my Mom by making an additional stop on our way home.  We went and saw the Dallas Temple.  The temple is much nicer than the last time we saw it.  Before it was having all new landscaping put in.  Now with all the work completed it looks much better.  Mom was so thrilled to get to visit.

Tuesday was my Mom’s last day with us and it was also her wedding anniversary.  Of course it had to be a crazy day.  Pamela stayed home while I took Mom and boys to Dallas.  Pamela needed to be at the house when the boys’ brand new beds arrived!

The GPS took me directly into the heart of Dallas.  While that was something I had wanted to avoid, the traffic was not bad and it gave my Mom a chance to see some pretty cool architecture.  When we finally got to where we needed to be in the DFW airport my Mom said good-bye and was off.

I decided to do something fun with the boys.  The GPS however did not want to cooperate.  It wanted me to exit the airport and then go back through the airport.  As far as I know you have to pay for every time you drive into the airport.  That was unacceptable to me.  So to avoid that I ended up driving all over the place until the GPS gave me a route that did not require me going into the airport.  What should have been an 11 minute trip became just under an hour of driving.  It was a hassle and a half!

At the Grapevine Mills Mall I took the boys to see some of the fish at the Rainforest Café.  Xander and Curtis really enjoyed that.  Then it was off to the Disney store.  Xander chose two Star Wars Tsum Tsum.  Then he tried to change his mind, but he had already removed the tags on the toys so Daddy gave him a firm “No, you’re stuck with those two toys.”  Xander has been fine with those two toys, he loves his new Ewok and BB-8.

Since Xander got two toys I felt that Curtis needed two.  Curtis is harder to shop for than Xander.  I showed him various toys and watched his facial expressions.  The two things that got Curtis the most excited and happy?  A Lion Guard sippy cup and Mickey Mouse silverware.  I guess he was hungry.

Poor Pamela had  a rough day while we were out and about.  The wind blew a door shut on her and she was locked out of the house.  Of course this had to be one of the days that it actually rained this summer.  The boys were excited to see what Mommy had done to their room but she was disappointed that it wasn't finished.

Curtis decided it was bath time.

Pamela worked on a project for my sister Evelyn and her daughter Audrey to help with scholarships.  We are very proud of her.  Later on I discovered just how safe our new community really is.  A lot was happening when the boys and I got back, so much in fact that I forgot to close one of the car doors.  Nothing was taken, the car was wide open for six hours.  It was a blessing and a mistake that I won’t be repeating.
