Settling In
Anyone who moves knows that the longest part of the process is unpacking. I am not sure if my family ever did unpack every box back when we made our big move to Utah when I was 11 years old. Unpacking for a young family seems to be a lot easier, there isn't nearly as much to unpack. Still though, we did not finish unpacking all the boxes from Arizona when it was time to move to Memphis. Most of those boxes ended up in storage.
Xander and Curtis are making the most of this transitional time by making the boxes into giant toys. I've tried to get in the boxes with them but, yeah, I'm not 11 years old anymore. At one point I just wore a box on my head and chased the boys on all fours. Xander got a kick out of that.
After a long day of playing Xander cuddled up with me in the chair and went to sleep.
Curtis seems to be into more mischief since the move. His new hobbies include sneaking into bathrooms. Once in the bathroom he either tries to enter the bathtub head first or he opens up the toilet to put stuff in there. We have to be very careful to keep the bathroom doors shut.
While Xander uses the boxes for hiding and playing games, Curtis just sits on one to chill. Xander enjoys calling for "Help!" when he's inside the boxes, not because he is stuck but because he wants to be lifted out, so he can go back in, and be lifted out again.
Xander decided to upgrade to a larger box.
Jane does a lot of the unpacking while Pamela and I are at work in Corsicana. Our plan is to enroll Xander in school soon so that he can finish out the year.
Our family went to the church for the first time and it was really nice. The members were excited to have another Spanish speaker to help with translation. Xander was a little shy in his Primary class and I had to sit with him for awhile. Curtis felt right at home in his Nursery class, but then again, what two year old would object to being in a room of books, toys, and snacks?
Here's hoping that we can stay in Gun Barrel for many years!
