Moving Days

I moved down to Gun Barrel City to be with my wife over a weekend.  Then I started the adventure of being a new employee at a new school, city, and state.  Over the next weekend my wife and I drove back to Tennessee, packed up our belongs, and brought our children and my mother-in-law back to Texas with us.  Then on Monday I went back to work again.

Our original plan did not work out the way we thought it would but honestly things went MUCH better than our last move.  The last time we moved we had to stop several times because of the problems with the moving truck.  This time we used a different company and the truck worked fine!

Xander has been able to tell for awhile that we were going to be moving.  He started saying good-bye to everything and everyone.  Xander is four years old and he made leaving Memphis a lot harder for our family.  He was doing really well in his preschool and had a very good friend named Jamal.  Memphis did not work out for us though.  We are just glad that he had a good experience with it.

Our youngest child, Curtis is a happy go with the flow baby.  He is only two years old and he has lived in three states.  It is time for the Maynards to settle down for awhile!

The moving truck sure made Xander happy.  He loves anything with wheels, especially if it is big!  He had such a great time climbing up into the truck and jumping around, unfortunately he was in the way.

Xander and Curtis plot their jailbreak.

Keeping the boys confined was difficult.  Eventually we ended up putting them in a room in the house where they could still see the truck that fascinated them so much.  While they were up there Xander's Primary Teacher from church came by with a gift for him!  He loved it so much he couldn't stop playing with it for days.

Members of the church came and packed the truck up very tightly.  The problem became that we still had a lot more things to move and no where room to put anything.  We had to get a last second storage shed.  Was not what we wanted to do by a long shot but it became necessary.  Since we still had a lot of cleaning to do and we had to move things into storage we were no longer able to follow our original plan of going half way that night.  We spent the night on floor and made a goal of leaving Memphis early Sunday morning.

My mother-in-law Jane prepares for the long journey with a light heart.

Dolly the Dog was my driving buddy.  She loves long trips.

The boys rode in the van with Mommy.  The van was overflowing with stuff, but we all made the best of it and had a nice drive to our new home that Sunday.  When we arrived the church was waiting for us and they got us unloaded in a jiffy.  "Everyone should move on Sunday's for now on," one of them said, "you can't say no to service on a Sunday!"  The work went by very quickly and we were very grateful to our new ward for the assistance.
